13 Spam Protection
The enquiry form on our Contact page is protected by Google reCAPTCHA v2, the "I'm not a robot" tick box, a service provided by Google LLC. You tick the box before sending the form, and Google may ask you to complete an image or audio challenge before it accepts the tick. It runs only on the pages that carry a form, and not across the rest of this website.
To distinguish a genuine submission from an automated one, reCAPTCHA collects information about you and sends it to Google. This includes:
- Your IP address, and the approximate location derived from it
- Information about your device and browser, such as screen size, language settings and installed plugins
- Information about how you interacted with the page, such as mouse movement, scrolling, touch events and how long the form took to complete
- Any cookies Google has previously set in your browser
No score or rating of you is produced or stored. Google tells us only whether the check was completed, and we keep nothing from it beyond that.
A submission that does not complete the check is refused and is not stored. Where that happens, what you typed is kept for up to ten minutes for the single purpose of showing the form back to you with your words still in it, so that you can try the check again without retyping anything. It is held against a one-time reference and is not searchable by your name, your email address or anything else you could give us, and it is deleted as soon as the form is shown back to you, or after ten minutes, whichever comes first.
A submission is never refused because reCAPTCHA was unavailable, because it was slow to answer, or because our own configuration of it is wrong. In any of those cases your enquiry is accepted and sent to us exactly as if the check had passed. Where a submission is refused, the message shown gives you an email address so that you can still reach us.
The form needs JavaScript and a working connection to Google in order to show the tick box at all. If you cannot use it for either reason, email us at the address given below and the form is not involved.
Google LLC is based in the United States, so this processing involves a transfer of your data outside the United Kingdom and the European Economic Area, made on the basis of the safeguards Google operates for its services. What Google does with the information it collects is governed by its own terms rather than this policy: please see the Google Privacy Policy and the Google Terms of Service.
Our lawful basis for this processing is our legitimate interest in protecting this website, and the people who read the enquiries it produces, from automated abuse. If you would prefer not to use reCAPTCHA, email us at sales@zouma.co.uk instead and the form is not involved at all.
14 Marketing Preferences
Our enquiry form includes one optional tick box, asking whether you would like to receive occasional insights and offers from us by email. It is unticked when the page loads, and leaving it unticked makes no difference to your enquiry: we answer every enquiry we receive, and we do not need your consent in order to do so.
If you do tick it, we record the exact wording you were shown, the date and time, and the language the form was in, so that we can later show what you agreed to rather than only that you agreed to something.
You may withdraw that consent at any time, without giving a reason:
- Use the unsubscribe link in any marketing email we have sent you, or
- Email sales@zouma.co.uk and ask to be removed
Withdrawing consent stops any further marketing email. It does not affect correspondence about an enquiry or an engagement, and it does not affect the lawfulness of anything we sent you before you withdrew it.
